The Sophie House News September 2017

Did you see the articles in the Richmond Times Dispatch on 8/13/17?

Housing Insecurity and Insurance options dwindling… these are true issues for many of our clients and many who don’t know that The Sophie House is here to help provide supportive services and a housing program to help offer assistance, comfort, peace, and more! We have had 3 women in the past few months whose situation changed drastically when their husbands passed away suddenly. They were left with a gaping hole – emotionally and financially. One has been volunteering with us and donating items because she felt connected to our mission; One felt she had to move due to the emotional roller coaster she was on and we helped provide financial guidance and a new home for her and her boys; And still another is in the throes of relocating with 3 school aged children so we are offering counseling and Christian fellowship and guidance as well as food, back to school clothes, and assistance with new housing options.  Read More from the News Here

Just a little insight into who has been reaching out for support and assistance lately! We are here for the community of women who aren’t sure where to turn for their next steps. Some have family and friends but they need an extra ear to listen and an extra step in a new or different direction. Some have experienced a painful separation from their spouse and now have to navigate this new life independently and start over. And some have lost time from work due to injury or illness, medical bills, and more and can use some extra financial guidance and help along with the monthly mentorship to stay on track.

The Sophie House is here to offer hope, healing, and encouragement to all women and families that call or contact us for a variety of needs. We would love to hear from you if you have questions or know of someone who may benefit from this opportunity. Have them call Rebecca or Kay to talk things over!

“GOOD MORNING!! Moving is finally all done! Woo-Hoo!!!! I am so excited & we love it!! They (the children) look forward to feeding the chickens everyday & they both say they feel at home already. I could not have done this without you, I can not thank you enough!!” From one of our moms, we relocated last month… She is also meeting with our financial planner and plans to go back to school soon too! Blessings abound…

Vernon Baptist Church, Xenith Bank, and Lifepoint Church helping make Back to School a fun and exciting time for 11 moms, a grandpa, and 14 children on Saturday, August 26th.
