Back-to-SchoolBack to School Drive was a Success!

Thank you so much for your generous donations to the backpack collection!  We especially want to thank one of our church partners, Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, for being an integral part of this event as well as our wonderful volunteers that helped make the evening a huge success! The Sophie House clients and their children were truly blessed by your generosity and willingness to support and help them in this transition of Back to School!  We held a cookout party at our community center with games, face painting, and food and 16 children filled backpacks with needed school supplies for the upcoming school year!  We had 9 adults/parents in attendance, 11 volunteers, and many wonderful donors!  Thank you so much for your support of The Sophie House and the clients and community we serve!

Service Spotlight & Special Thanks to Marianne Wiles!

Marianne has been involved with The Sophie House since 2010 when she and Founder and Executive Director, Kimberly Braine-Tillem, were connected to open the referral home we have for ladies who are involved with The Sophie House.  In addition to being continuously active with us, Marianne works an almost full time job, is active at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Adult Bible Fellowship and Women’s Ministry, supports the Precious to God team (a ministry for exploited women), and various other organizations around Richmond.  She has a heart for helping and serving others and has been such a wonderful asset to our volunteer team with The Sophie House.  She has been, and continues to be, a tremendous asset in reaching out to businesses and friends to introduce them to our mission of helping women get back on their feet and keep moving forward, and for this we are eternally grateful!  Thank you so much, Marianne!

If Christ were sitting at our table, would we be proud to serve Him our food?

By partnering with local churches and other community minded organizations, they are able to offer a once monthly distribution giving you an opportunity to SAVE, SERVE and CONNECT. Savings is simple, everyone wants to save money and everyone has to eat. Serving and connecting with your community can be difficult at times. OneHarvest offers you an opportunity to do all three.
