The Sophie House experienced considerable growth and change this past year. We are so grateful to all our supporters for the amazing blessings you have given us and it is looking like another awesome year with continued growth in 2017.
One of the more noteworthy changes at the end of the year was the departure of founder, Kimberly Braine-Tillem as Executive Director. After much prayer and careful consideration, Kimberly made the decision to step down to spend more time with her family and continue serving as Minister for Children and Families at Mount Vernon Baptist Church. We are all forever grateful and thankful for the many years of service and vision that Kimberly has provided The Sophie House. We wish her continued success with her ministry and service to others.
As we move forward into 2017 we have many exciting opportunities ahead. We aim to be the leading resource for single women and single moms in the Richmond area. As we look to the future, our plans include expanding our housing referral program, the education component and job skills training for women and teens. These programs help our clients stabilize their lives, increase their earning potential and strengthen their financial stability. We have a number of exciting fundraisers and events to help us with this continued growth. So please take a look and see how you can help support the organization.
“I am usually an optimistic person and try to be positive but at some low points, I didn’t know where to turn. I appreciate being able to ask for help in a place that gives you a hand up.”
Help us make a difference
- We have been able to help ladies with car repairs to keep them on the road and working.
- We have helped them stay in their apartments so they don’t have to move again and again.
- We have also been able to offer support and encouragement through prayer and counseling on many occasions.
We would welcome your monthly contribution to help provide the funding for these important services The Sophie House provides to our clients.
“Thank you for your work with moms. Thank you for your listening ear. Thank you for being gentle, kind, and thoughtful… I have had my share of highs and lows and I want to thank you for your part in helping me and my boys succeed!”
