Director of Operations

Rebecca Blackwell

Rebecca is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a BS in Business Administration and Management. Prior to coming to The Sophie House, she worked with First Things First teaching interpersonal skills, event planning, and coalition leadership.  In addition, she brings banking experience from Signet and First Union.

Rebecca joined The Sophie House team in 2014. Through case management, she assesses both the financial and emotional needs of our clients and works with them to provide options to meet those needs.  She continues to develop programs to suit the many individual needs our clients have.  She has a passion for families and a heart for spreading the love of Jesus Christ to others.

Rebecca has been married to a wonderful man, Mark, for 20 years and they have 3 terrific children. Rebecca and her family are members at Mount Vernon Baptist Church.  She and her husband are active in the marriage ministry, while their daughters thrive in the student ministry.  Their son is attending college.  In Rebecca’s spare time, she coaches gymnastics.

Client Relations

Kay Godwin

Kay joined The Sophie House team in 2017.  She has a passion for helping women.  She believes that given the proper resources and opportunities, women can successfully provide for their family.

Kay has been married to her wonderful husband since 2003 and they have two very active children.  She is actively involved with her children’s school PTA and is a Girl Scout troop leader.  In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family at kids’ sports activities, camping, and going to the beach.
