History of The Sophie House

While living cross country in California in 2006, our founder, Kimberly Braine-Tillem, experienced a sudden separation from her marriage and found herself facing the challenges of single motherhood.  With no support system nearby, she took the long journey home to Richmond, Virginia with her children, pets, and belongings all in her car.  It was on that journey that the idea for The Sophie House was born.

In 2010, The Sophie House was opened.  Strong in her faith in God and experienced through her own journey, Kimberly began serving clients with the Sophie philosophy:

P – Perseverance & Potential

H – Hope & Healing

I – Integrity

E – Education & Encouragement
